Chinese willow market baskets exist in many variations – light, medium brown, with a wide range of patinas. Very dark examples, however, are rare.
This basket belongs to that particular category. Over decades of use, the woven willow has developed a deep, dark tone. A patina that can only emerge through time, material, and use.
Its form is calm and stable. As decorative object, the basket feels understated yet full of character, with a presence that cannot be artificially created.
